Last week, my old friend Tim Iseler joined me for a webinar. And even though we briefly discussed some audio stuff (Tim is an ex-touring audio pro), the real topic of the webinar was financial planning.

Since he retired from touring, Tim has chosen a new career path by starting a financial advisory firm (www.iselerfinancial.com). I think this is a super valuable service — every time we talk about financial planning I just think: “Sure wish I’d been thinking about this stuff way sooner!”

Freelancers should be especially diligent about managing debt and preparing for slow periods of work. I’m glad Tim could share some valuable insight as he understands the freelance perspective.

In this first video, we discuss how opening an IRA or ROTH IRA can be a great first step in planning for retirement:

We also spent some time discussing the benefits of starting an LLC (which was the most popular write-in topic):

This was a great webinar — thanks to Tim for sharing his knowledge! If you want Tim’s guide with a bunch of great tips for freelancers, click here.
