042 – Working in Live Sound

When I first started working as a live sound engineer, I had no idea of how the touring industry worked. I was just excited to be around live music and mix some shows! But as I kept working my way into better audio positions, I began to identify some of the opportunities available to me as an engineer.

At this point in my career I’ve done many types of work, not only touring with artists but working for audio companies, doing corporate events, consulting on television broadcasts, and owning a recording studio. I’ve always loved the variety! But even in the touring industry alone there are many jobs that are available to engineers, and various ways to get into the biz.
